Bean is now on the fast track for English as a first language. Over the weekend and yesterday, she points at her eyes and says ‘eyes’ – same with her nose, mouth and ears. She also learned “all done” (literal words aaah da – with sign for it) She learned what a lion says “raah”, Milk (ok… this one is moo – but totally get it). And a few others I can’t think of now. I am so excited for her. She really likes the reaction she gets when she says a new word, so I hope she keeps doing it.

Speaking of the weekend – we went to Badger’s wedding. It was a 4.5 hour drive and it only took us 6 hours! (not bad considering this was with a baby who didn’t sleep at all). The wedding was really nice and we actually got to hang out with the bride and groom (usually the bride and groom are so busy, they don’t really get to hang out with the people who came to see them… instead their friends and family chat with each other. As it turns out, it is a good way to get dirt on ’em hee hee hee) Hubby and I took turns being the parent during the evening festivities. Which was good because Bean came down w/ a cold while she was there. The last night she would sleep for an hour, wake up crying for 30 – 45 minutes, then sleep for an hour… etc. This made the ride home not so much fun. But – we were able to take advantage of nap time on the ride home… so didn’t take us quite as long to get home.

I keep finding myself comparing my child to others. I know you aren’t supposed to, but I can’t help it. This weekend, I was comparing eating habits. She did eat an entire breakfast of “people food” and I was soo very excited. Then that stopped. Then I saw a 11 month old eating food that she wouldn’t eat now, at 17 months. I know – she will come to it in her own time. She won’t go to college eating baby food. Well – I keep saying it. Someday I will believe it.

If her language skills continue as they are, soon she will be able to tell me why she won’t eat. Then maybe I will learn what she will eat! (OK – I have a small obsession with her eating habits.)
