Currently, I can only think of one good theme song on TV (Big Bang Theory) – all others are either musical montages or just not very good.

People STILL know the theme songs for many shows from the 1960’s. Even if you’ve never seen an episode – you know the Batman theme song. You can’t help but know the Addam’s Family theme song – as it is still played at sporting events.

You can’t help but know the theme song to the Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch (even if you would rather stick daggers in your ears than hear it again).

In the 80’s – you have Cheers theme song and you take the good, you take the bad — The Facts of Life.   Even in the 90’s you have Friends, and The Nanny. And how could you forget The Fresh Prince of Bel Air?

This decade… we have… Big Bang Theory. And… Um… Uh… Nuthin! Maybe there is another – but I can’t think of one. Can you?

So as I heard of the passing of Vic Mizzy (the creator of the Addam’s Family and Green Acres theme songs), I remember all the great theme songs and wonder if there will be another boom of good TV theme songs.

What are your favorite TV theme songs of all time?
