Introducing Helga

December 15, 2009 · 1 Comment

At the office, Private-i and I share a faux wall. Apparently in my absence, someone decided to move in to keep Private-i company.

Helga.

Helga is a mouse that is described as MAYBE two inches long. The reason she is named Helga is because it was decided she was female (just because). Helga was discovered by startling Private-i, causing her to choke (making her a death mouse). A death mouse has to have a good death mouse name… Helga was named.

I am going to the office on Thursday, but am hoping that Helga would have relocated by then. Private-i would like her to be part of a relocation program, vs. a relocate to the grave plan that facilities will likely perform.

How do you relocate neighbors such as Helga? Do you relocate, or do you search and destroy?

The 10th Day Before Christmas

December 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

On this, 10 days before Christmas, I freak out about…

  • Packing for trip back home (and fretting about crying baby on plane)
  • Finalizing work projects before vacation
  • Not forgetting something really important for the trip (like a car seat)
  • Getting the house ready for 6 bedrooms full of over night guests when we get back from vacation

I am really looking forward to all the things coming, but I am having a hard time listing everything that needs to be done so I can just do it. Thankfully, C is on the case. He has been very helpful over the last few days.

Here we go… I am making a plan, checking it twice. All people who could be naughty or nice better be nice, or I will be naughty. Don’t make me do that. This means you store clerk. Oh, you too person who cuts me off in traffic. You didn’t think I’d let you off the hook, airline industry, did you? Finally – weather man – be nice will ya? Thanks!

Ode To Family

November 30, 2009 · 1 Comment

I think everyone has that family member. The one who probably means well, but hasn’t a clue how to behave in polite society.

Private-i (who introduced me to awkwardfamilyphotos.com), sent me this tidbit.

The Thanksgiving letter…

The author swears it is real and I believe her. I believe her because I have a family member who was known to send back wedding invitations with not only a decline, but a bitter letter crucifying the invitation and giving further explanation about how a proper wedding invitation should be done (in her mind). I don’t know you, family in the letter in question, but i feel for you.

In the comments, tell me about your family member who needs a lesson in civility.

Proud of Hubby – Again and Still

October 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hubby is STILL top of all of his classes and he is still kicking ass in school! This weekend, I get to be the proud wife of a rock star… again!

This weekend, should you find yourself in the vicinity of Sterling Virginia on Saturday afternoon, you should go to Sterling Fest.

The festival is as you would expect a small town festival to be, but the music is going to ROCK as the headliner (Augur) rocks the festival.

All that, and I get to celebrate 12 years of marriage to this guy.

How can I NOT beam with pride?

Family, Rock Star, College Student – I get them all

September 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today we head out to go see friends. But this isn’t just any weekend with friends, this is a weekend that my Husband/Rock Star/College Student has two gigs in one day.

TWO IN ONE

One of them is a gig we can take the Bean to – so she gets to see her Rock Star daddy for the first time.

I am so very proud of him.

Semi-Naked Finger

September 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

My heart broke today when I noticed an odd pinching on my finger, only to realize my ring was broken.

Not just any ring, my wedding ring.

I think it looks like it can be repaired,  but it feels very odd to have a semi-naked finger. My engagement ring is still there – but the wedding ring is gone. For now.

Hubby has the ring and will get it fixed. Visualize this with me. It will be fixed. It isn’t terminal. It will be fixed. It will be an easy fix. It will be a cheap fix. It will be fixed.

For now, I am semi-naked.

Playdates for Grown-Ups

August 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Saturday Night and I have plans. Real plans. To go out. Of the house. I can’t believe it.

I don’t think I’ve been “bored” since moving to Mount Crumpit, but I do look forward to the opportunity to get out and meet new people in my new hometown. I found an avenue that surprised me, but I am enjoying none the less. It is a playgroup for working moms that I found online. The group is moms (and dads too) who get together fully aware that the kids are so young that they may be “playing”, but they are really playing alone at the same time as one another. Instead it is a chance for parents to have social time without worry of baby sitters, or offending someone by leaving because “baby is cranky”.

Don’t get me wrong, I miss my friends fam. I am very lucky to get to see them as frequently as I do. But I would like to know some people in the town I live in that are in my age group.

When the opportunity to go see live music at a brewery and is in fact family friendly (not to mention the chance to socialize w/ people who live in the same town) came up – I jumped all over it. I think this will be fun.

On This Day in 1992

August 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Seventeen short years ago, I went on my first date with who would one day be my husband. At the time, I liked him, but just thought I was his rebound and he was mine.

I am glad things didn’t work out as I planned.

To give some perspective (and to make myself feel old)… here are a few factoids about that year.

  • People born that year are graduating from high school this year.
  • Bush was in office. Not that Bush, the first one… (41). Clinton was running for President and no one knew who Monica Lewinsky was.
  • iPods, DVRs and DVD’s did not exist.
  • MTV still played music (although it was slowing down) and ‘The Real World’ was a new show.
  • Among our first dates hubby and I saw Metallica (the black album) and Guns ‘n Roses (Use Your Illusion). This was before Axl went COMPLETELY insane… although he was on his way.
  • The original 90210 was on TV – complete with Brandon and Brenda.

I love you very much sweetie! I am so happy to have spent the better half of my life with you.

Found Picture of Hubby and I

July 7, 2009 · 3 Comments

Levi.FrancisOnCamero1993

I love that I have been with hubby for long enough to be able to post pictures of us together as kids. This was from 1992.

We didn’t think we were kids then. Oh, how age gives you perspective.
