Dear Internet User,

I don’t understand what makes you think I want your chain mail (or prayer, or wish to save a kid from cancer, or want to get money from Microsoft, or whatever). For those mails that threaten a hex me if I don’t forward your mail to 100s of people, you should know by now that I don’t forward these mails – so why do you wish a hex on me for not following the directions? Have I done something to wrong you?

To me, these messages are worse than Spam. At least Spam has a purpose (even though the purpose is to make some f’n jerk tons of money by sending me offers to expand parts I don’t have). Chain mail is sent by people who know me (in theory) – but both are treated the same. Trash.

If you are one of the concerned people about what might happen if you don’t send the email, I would like for you to take this permission slip that I got from Redbook. I will even take some of the responsibility… but only if you will stop sending me your crap.

Redbook (and I) hereby gives ____Your Name Here____ permission to allow chain mail to die with you. Redbook (and I) will assume responsibility for any curse or hex associated with ignoring such mail.

Thanks!
