On Monday, the Bean is a great big five-month-old baby and is still the cutest. Things are starting to pick up pace and I am not quite ready yet.
Unless she is SUPER tired, she doesn’t really snuggle much anymore. She now wants to look around, explore and reach out to grab anything she can. It is intresting to watch what she finds interesting. I look forward to more of this as she can explore more on her own.
I don’t recall when I caught her laugh, but I have to say it isn’t what I expected. It sounds like an older kid’s laugh, not a baby giggle. It is adorable, of course, just not expected.
She is rolling from front to back proficiently and starting to roll from back to front. Currently it is enough to put on her resume, but actually gets stuck on her side not knowing what to do with her arm that is in the way.
A new addition to the resume is sitting up. She can sit in her bouncy seat (sitting up, not back) on her own for a while. I haven’t caught her at a time she wants to sit while on the floor yet, but I am certain she could do it for a few seconds at least.
She started eating “solid” foods (translation — rice cereal that is more milk than rice cereal). She is not a fan to say the least. The face she makes while eating it is priceless! Although it could be considered cruel and unusual punishment to continue to try and give it to her, but other mommies and all the literature assure me this is normal and fine. I have also been trying to introduce formula — that is going worse than the rice cereal. I never knew a child could turn that color red.
She is still sleeping in our room (parental neurosis), but someone had the great idea to move her away from the bed so it is easier to move into her own room — so far that is going well. Thankfully we have to room to do that now.
She is still harboring golf balls (judging from the looks of her cheeks), but they are very kissable.
We have moved in to the family house… finally. And hopefully we will not be moving again. I was FINALLY able to decorate the nursery in a classic Pooh theme (I know you are shocked). The walls were painted sky blue, I added clouds with bees and dragon flies, then added the vinyl static stickers with Pooh and friends. The theme continued through the bathroom and crib. It looks really cute and I am very happy with it.
We have the entire family (parents, sister and her whole family, even a cousin for good measure) visiting this week. Although I cannot wait to see them, I wish I had the house more prepared. Then again, if I waited until I was happy with the place, they wouldn’t be able to come for years… so I guess now is as good a time as any. I have the very real excuse that we JUST moved, so it works out.
Next step — Air Conditioning. Need to get me some of that nice and cool goodness. Soon.
