Without going into all the details, we discovered a new level of trespassing this weekend. I am sure the intentions were curiousity and no harm intended… but OH MY GOD!

On to what’s new…

We moved into the actual house last week (thanks in no small part to the efforts of hubby and “L”). We are in a unique position to have ample time to actually move, but there are some things that need to happen on the actual move day. The phone line (that comes with DSL so I can work), the TV service, critical furnishings such as the bed, a few clothes and bathroom necessities. Alas, any time I need services moved, transferred or modified in any way, there is always more drama than I feel is necessary. This move was no exception.

First, on “move day” the phone service was turned off in the old location and was not yet turned on in the new location until the scheduled time of mid-day. Not too bad, except the phone company was on a ONE DAY delay. ONE DAY?!?!?! If you knew you were delayed that much, why the “heck” did you turn off the old service? The next day I went hunting for wifi to work and the phone was finally hooked up about 4:00. That night I made a few calls and all was well. The next day I go to get online — no dial tone.

I was less than pleased.

Thankfully they didn’t have a 1 business day delay on repairs… but I still had to take the day off to get it all done. The silver lining there is that I got a chance to really clear out the desk (with hundreds of dried up pens and thousands of stamps). I boxed up stuff that needed to be boxed up adn put my stuff in its place.

TV service was actually easier than planned. This house has never had anything other than a standard antenna, so I wasn’t sure what kind of headache to expect. It wasn’t headache free, but it wasn’t as bad as planned. We have service in 2 of the planned rooms, but the 3rd room cannot have service at all (without doing some drilling and having wires all over the place… not acceptable). Since I was planning on 4 locations, we still have 4 boxes… we decided that one was not needed at all, since we can’t have service there anyway and went ahead and put the last box in my office. The dish ended up having to be in an inconvenient location, but we will live.

On the bright side, the nursery was finally painted and decorated to my liking. I have been waiting for a year to decorate my baby’s room and couldn’t for any number of really good reasons (we were renting, we were moving… we were moving, we were too busy, had to scrape off chipping paint, had to paint it over and over and over again to get it to look right), but it is done now. I’ll be posting pictures soon. I am VERY excited about the room. If you know me at all, you will not be surprised to learn it is a classic Pooh theme.

All in all it is very odd living here.

I still feel like this is my grandmother’s house. I can’t help but call the bedroom we sleep in “my grandmother’s room” and the baby’s nursery “my uncle’s room”. I still feel like a guest in the house and I am not sure how to get over it.

Do you ever stop and wonder exactly how you got to a point in your life?

I often wonder how I got the job that I have. I play on social networks, make up rules and actively look for things that most people get reprimanded for even having on their computers. All that and I can be part of catching the bad guys. I love my job.

Lately, I have been looking at my yard. I look forward to the weekends because I don’t have an army of worker bees doing any number of things that are either really good, really annoying or really bad. I look forward to being able to park my car and not have to move it so that some very large equipment doesn’t run it over.

This morning when I took the dogs out, it was foggy. I love this kind of morning. It is very quiet and I can take time to enjoy the view, the trees, the calmness. Today, part of my lovely view through the fog was the porta potty that was put in last week. I am glad not to have the army of worker bees need to use the bathroom (and “miss”… eww), but I wonder how I got to a point in my life that I required not only 7 bathrooms in a house, but also a porta potty on the lawn.

Next week we make our final move into the house. (I will if it kills me!!) Also on the agenda… Floor people, scaffolding people, roofers, rug people, pool guy, “C” and “L”, electritian, plumbers (I hope), and if all goes according to plan, friends in town next weekend.

…. at least I didn’t yesterday.

Just as I was signing on, getting ready for work, I hear from the electric company that I won’t have power for 1/2 the day. Why? I asked. They set it up with “T”, they have to finish the upgrade today or else can’t for who knows how long.

In my mind I was torn between “we have enough power now, who cares??” and “hmm… how close are we to fire hazard or lack of power for a very long time.” I was torn because I had to work. You know, to make money. Begrudgingly, I left it in the hands of hubby (who is the greatest for dealing with all these problems) and left to find myself some wifi. Thankfully a friend called just in time to let me use her house for the day, so everything worked out on that front.

On my way down the drive way to start work I was almost run over by another electric company person. I don’t know how fast he was going, but he skid to stop before hitting me at a stop. Again, thanks to hubby for “asking” him to slow a tad.

Never a dull moment.

While I don’t have a lot of time for details, I wanted to be sure to post this.

After a very large rain storm a couple nights ago, there is more flooding in the basement.

Yay!

Oh, to top it all off… the water seems to be seeping through the walls, rather than a singular source.
