Dear retailers of holiday decor,
Let’s stop with the Holiday switcharoo, shall we?
It is NOT necessary to celebrate more than one holiday season at a time. I am dealing well with the incesent Christmas carols being sung over and over and over again in every store I go into. I am even OK with seeing Christmas bows on things that really should never be Christmas gifts… ( I actually saw a “Christmas special” sign over Hanukkah wrapping paper). But really — let’s focus on the winter holiday season before moving on to the next holiday made up by the retailers of the United States.
Christmas stuff should not be sold prior to Halloween. November 1st is fair game (I think we can include it with Thanksgiving, since that holiday is really about the dinner, not so much the decor).
New Year’s (like Thanksgiving) can be tossed in with Christmas because it is about the party, again… not the gifts and decor.
Once New Years is over (i.e. January 2nd), you can pull out all the cute little hearts and other fake holiday decor you want. But DON’T pull out anything remotely related to St. Patty’s until AFTER Feb. 15th.
One holiday at a time people. This is a simple request, really.
Thanks,
Sincerely,
The Annoyed Public
