This time of year, there are many people trying to pick out the perfect gift for their significant other. Although a practical gift may be wanted, it is not likely wanted FOR a holiday. I like to call these “Tuesday gifts”
A “Tuesday gift” is something that, while it is well meaning and may very well have a great use and be wanted, it is not something that you give a spouse for a specific holiday. You give it to them, just because… on a day that doesn’t have any significance to the outside world. “Tuesday gifts” include things like tupperwear, a vacuum (even a fancy one), pots and pans, car parts, gym memberships, etc. A holiday gift (birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc.) needs to be something that the spouse can be proud of when others ask about what you got. Getting a look of pity from friends is NOT the desired result. Vacuums will receive pity. But if you get the fancy vacuum on any random Tuesday, you may get extra points… (provided it doesn’t come with a card about how she can keep the house a little cleaner).
This video is about this very idea… I laughed, so I share with you.
My question to you is…
What is the worst gift you ever got from (or gave to) a significant other?
